Your next festival should be easier to plan—not harder to understand. This policy explains what information is involved when you use RaveHacks, why it is used, and how to contact us about your choices.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy covers ravehacks.com and the RaveHacks newsletter and communications that refer to it. “RaveHacks,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of this website. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
It does not cover an event organizer, ticket seller, retailer, music platform, or other website simply because we link to it. Those services have their own privacy notices.
2. Information involved when you use the site
Information you provide. This includes your email address when you subscribe, any additional information you choose to enter in a signup form, and the name, email address, messages, attachments, or business details you send us. Submitting a correction or partnership inquiry is not, by itself, a newsletter subscription.
Website and device information. Hosting and measurement services can receive an IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, referring pages, timestamps, approximate location derived from technical data, and interaction or campaign information. What is received depends on the service, its settings, and your browser controls.
Email activity. Our email platform can process subscription status, delivery events, clicks, and, when tracking is enabled, opens. Email-app privacy features can make open information incomplete or inaccurate.
Saved tools. The packing-list builder stores selections, progress, and custom items in your browser. Saved festival favorites also use browser storage. These features do not require an account. Avoid putting confidential or sensitive information in custom entries, especially on a shared device. Browser-local storage is not an assurance that other scripts on the same website cannot access it.
Optional location. The festival map’s “Near Me” feature requests device location through your browser when you activate it. You can refuse permission or revoke it in your browser settings and continue browsing without this feature. Interactive maps also make requests to their mapping provider.
Public professional information. Event and artist pages may contain names, professional profiles, performance schedules, and related information drawn from public announcements and event-data sources. Contact us about inaccurate listings.
3. How information is used
Information is used to deliver and protect the website; operate requested tools; manage newsletter subscriptions; send the updates you request; answer messages; investigate corrections; understand site and campaign performance; administer affiliate relationships; and address legal obligations or disputes.
Please do not send medical records, detailed accounts of substance use, identification documents, or payment-card details through an editorial or newsletter contact channel. Reading a safety article does not create a medical relationship. Browsing topics may reveal interests, so technical browsing information can still be personal information.
4. Service providers and other recipients
Cloudflare supports website delivery and security. Google Analytics 4 measures site usage. Klaviyo supports newsletter forms, subscriptions, and email delivery and measurement. Mapbox supports the interactive festival map. Depending on the feature you use, these providers receive or process the technical or contact information needed for that activity. Their own notices also explain processing they carry out for their own purposes.
When you follow an affiliate, ticket, retailer, or music link, the destination may receive referral information and collect information directly from you. Affiliate reporting may tell us that a referral or qualifying transaction occurred. A link is not a promise that the destination has the same data practices as RaveHacks.
Information may also be disclosed to advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary to meet a legal obligation, respond to valid process, protect rights and safety, or investigate abuse. A business transfer may involve relevant records, subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.
“Sale,” “sharing,” and “targeted advertising” can have legal meanings broader than exchanging information for money. Our use of third-party measurement does not justify a blanket promise that no information is disclosed. Contact us about applicable choices described below.
5. Cookies, tracking, and browser signals
See the Cookie Policy for cookies, local storage, provider information, and available controls. The current Google Analytics integration starts when a page loads. Klaviyo’s onsite script loads automatically on pages where it is enabled; the legal-page layout does not enable that script.
The reviewed integrations do not wait for a RaveHacks cookie-preference selection and do not implement a site-level response to browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. Browser or provider controls may operate separately. This description of current technical behavior does not waive a privacy right or remove an obligation that applicable law places on us.
This policy is information about processing, not a request for consent. Merely viewing it or continuing to browse is not an agreement to optional tracking.
6. Your choices and privacy requests
Newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or contact [email protected]. Unsubscribing from email does not clear browser cookies or automatically delete every historical record. A limited suppression record may be needed to avoid sending you marketing again.
Browser and tools. You can restrict cookies, clear RaveHacks site data, use content-blocking controls, and revoke location permission. Clearing site data can remove your saved packing list and favorites. It does not automatically delete data already held by a service provider.
Legal rights. Depending on your location and the laws that apply, you may have rights to know or access information, correct it, request deletion, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or opt out of a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Some laws provide rights concerning sensitive information, authorized agents, appeals, and complaints to a privacy regulator. These rights have conditions and exceptions; this policy does not narrow rights provided by law.
Send a request to [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request” and enough information to identify the relevant subscription, message, or issue. We may need proportionate verification for an access, correction, or deletion request. Do not send identity documents unless a secure and necessary verification method has been arranged. An opt-out request is not subject to identity verification merely because it is an opt-out. Where a right to appeal applies, reply with “Privacy appeal.” We will handle requests within the time required by applicable law and will not unlawfully discriminate for exercising privacy rights.
7. Retention, security, and international processing
Retention depends on the purpose: whether you remain subscribed, whether an inquiry or correction is unresolved, the need to maintain opt-out records, legal requirements, and legitimate dispute or security needs. Provider settings also affect the retention of technical data. Browser-stored lists remain until they are cleared, reset, or removed by your browser. Cookie expiration is not the same as deletion of information held on a server.
No website, email service, or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid sharing more information than is necessary for your request.
Service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your information. This notice does not, by itself, create a lawful basis or an international-transfer safeguard.
8. Children’s information
RaveHacks is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 should not submit information through our newsletter or contact channels. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information can contact [email protected] so we can investigate and address it. Event age limits are set by organizers and must be checked separately.
9. Updates and contact
We may update this policy as the site or its practices change. We will update the date and provide additional notice or obtain consent when applicable law requires it. A revised policy is not permission to use previously collected information in an incompatible way without a lawful basis.
Privacy contact: [email protected]. Include “Privacy request” in the subject line.
